The Société de protection des forêts contre le feu (SOPFEU), in collaboration with the ministère des Forêts, de la Faune et des Parcs (MFFP), announced in a statement that they are again supporting the United States, which is facing to a particularly difficult forest fire season. A new section of 20 forest firefighters, along with an agency representative, will participate in a second resource deployment coordinated by the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Center (CIFFC).

Quebec firefighters will travel to northern California to fight active fires in the Plumas National Forest, where they will take over from the sixty SOPFEU firefighters who will be back in the country today, after a 14-day cycle. The departure of this second contingent of firefighters is scheduled for Thursday, September 17, 2020. All the health protocols put in place by the US Forest Service due to the pandemic have been validated by SOPFEU.
