Arrests related to a series of break and enter and fraud in the Pontiac RCM

Police officers from the Sûreté du Québec in the MRC Pontiac, in collaboration with the Gatineau Police Department and the MRC des Collines public security arrested two people in connection with a series of break and enter and fraud in several municipalities in the Pontiac MRC between April 26 and May 4.

The investigation shows that the suspects entered homes and businesses in Shawville, Otter-Lake, Ladysmith and Thorne to steal debit / credit cards, electronic devices and lottery tickets. In some cases, the offenses were committed while people were in their homes and in another case, the suspect was surprised by a resident after she heard noise in her home.

Following the investigation by the Sûreté du Québec, officers identified the suspects.

A 23-year-old man was arrested by police officers in Gatineau on May 4. He remains in custody and was scheduled to appear in court yesterday at the Gatineau courthouse because he was wanted for several crimes. He could also face charges of break and enter and fraud.

A 35-year-old woman was also arrested by police officers in the MRC des Collines on May 6 following an investigation. She was released on a promise to appear in court on August 7, 2018 at the Gatineau Courthouse. She could face charges of conspiring to break and enter and fraud.
