In the event of a flood, the MRC Pontiac plans to adjust access to the chalets so that cottagers can ensure the protection of their property.

Warden Jane Toller said, however, that the owners of the cottages do not have to worry about the spring flood, at least for the time being. She says she understands their concerns, but that there is no flooding in sight, according to data from the Ottawa River Planning Commission, which does not currently forecast flows as important as last year.

If flooding occur, Toller says that the MRC will adjust the access to the cottages accordingly and that this will be a justifiable situation with the authorities who control the borders between the regions. She also pointed out that the MRC Pontiac is monitoring the flow situation of rivers very closely.

Since Wednesday, new road checkpoints have been added by the Sûreté du Québec in the Outaouais, especially in areas less affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, but remain vulnerable, including the Pontiac. Patrollers limit travelling from one region to another and do not accept non-essential travelling.
