Information regarding the spring freshet in the municipality of Pontiac

The Municipality of Pontiac wishes to update the community on information concerning the spring floods. Information from various governmental organizations specializing in weather and water forecasting indicates that:

• The water level of the Ottawa River is rising but remains in the norms for our area.
• According to the Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board, the level is expected to increase by 30 cm by Friday.

• That said, the Ministry of Public Security states that this year, the melt conditions are clearly favorable in the Outaouais for less flooding, snow cover were almost completely melted by early April. In addition, the lack of precipitation this year means that watershed inflows are normal compared to last year. ”
• Currently, the river level is 59.29 m

If the Commission were to see that in three days that the level of the river reaches 59.80 meters , the Municipality of Pontiac would proceed to the distribution of sandbags.

• As a last resort. citizens should have their own bag of bags to cope with spring floods.
• The Municipality encourages citizens in flood zones to check their pumps and emergency kits.
