Many Pontiacers have expressed concerns with the delays to the renovations of the Félix-Gabriel-Marchand Bridge in Mansfield. Many have blamed Quebec’s Ministry of Transport and expressed frustration with the slow trickle of information. The work is expected to extend into October and possibly beyond.

MRC Pontiac Warden Jane Toller was the instigator of the petition to renovate the historic structure, prior to her election in 2017. She insisted she is remaining positive about the overhaul, but added that a plan must be followed and deadlines met.

Toller addressed rumours she had heard that the work would be delayed into 2022. She said that she hopes to ensure the work will be completed by the end of the year. Toller added that the bridge is an important asset for tourism in the region.
