Petition calls for food allergy clinic for the Outaouais

8 August 2022 à 12:00 am

A petition was launched a few weeks ago, following the tragedy that affected the family of Sarah-Émilie Hubert, a 15-year-old from Hull who died on June 25 following an allergic reaction. The teen’s family have requested the opening of food allergy desensitization clinics for the Outaouais, but also for all regions of Quebec, especially in regions where specialists (allergists) are available.

Here is the excerpt from the text of the petition, available via the website of the National Assembly of Quebec (translated).

“CONSIDERING THAT, on June 25, a 15-year-old resident of Hull died following a food allergic reaction;

WHEREAS access to an allergy desensitization clinic in his region could have saved her life;

WHEREAS several food allergy desensitization protocols have favorable results at Sainte-Justine Hospital (Montreal);

WHEREAS all Quebecers (children and adults) should have access to a food allergy desensitization clinic in their region;

We, the undersigned, ask the government of Quebec to open food allergy desensitization clinics without delay for all regions of Quebec, especially in regions where specialists (allergists) are available.”

The petition is available here. Those who want to support this request have until August 29 to sign.
