Pontiac International sled-dog race cancelled

3 March 2022 à 12:00 am

The annual international dog-sledding races that were scheduled to take place in Bristol this weekend (March 4-6) have been cancelled. Organizer Denis Rozon explained that public health restrictions in January, when they usually host the races, caused the change of schedule. Other races moved their dates to the same weekend, and the racers decided to head for different locations.

“We could have organized the race, but several sled dog races were moved to this weekend and the runners decided, in large part, to bet on events in eastern Quebec,” Rozon explained (tr.).

The Bristol Dryland dog races, scheduled to take place at the end of October (the 28th to the 30th), are still on however. Typically the event attracts around 200 teams from all over the continent and beyond.

“We can’t wait, since with the end of the measures I expect many participants who will come to us in the Pontiac,” Rozon said (tr.).
