Some evacuees from Quyon return home

6 May 2019 à 12:00 am

The Municipality of Pontiac has announced that evacuated residents of the village of Quyon have returned to their homes. The municipality wanted to remind the residents that only those mentioned on its Facebook page may return and that until further notice the municipality is asking all sandbags to be kept in place.

The Municipality of Pontiac also wrote that water levels are slightly down but these remain above the major flood thresholds and the possibility of a second flood has not been ruled out. The Quyon dike is stable and regularly inspected by the Canadian Armed Forces and the municipal public works department. Citizens are asked to minimize their use of water as to not overwhelm the sewer system – toilets, washers, showers, dishwashers, baths, etc.
