The Shawville Figure Skating Club (Shawville FSC) was visited by world-renowned figure skater Elvis Stojko as part of an all-day seminar this Thursday.

In a press scrum Thursday, Stojko explained that giving seminars in clubs across the country allows him to share his experience and techniques with the next generation of skaters:

Elvis Stojko is a three-time world champion, a seven-time Canadian champion and a double silver medalist at the Lillehammer (1994) and Nagano (1998) Olympics. He is also the first skater to have successfully completed a quadruple-double toe loop combination at the 1991 World Championships as well as the quadruple-triple toe loop combination at the 1997 Champions Series Final.

Accompanied by his wife, Gladys, he gave a seminar to skaters from Shawville and surrounding clubs skaters, this Thursday. Around 45 skaters were in attendance despite the winter storm.

Elvis Stojko will be in Ottawa next April as part of the next round of ‘Stars on Ice’. He was able to give a few details on the subject, without revealing any surprises:

Stars on Ice will also feature long-standing Canadian and world champions such as Kurt Browning, Patrick Chan and the couple: Meagan Duhamel & Eric Radford.
