CHIP 101.9 interviewed Ruth Hearty who has undertaken extensive research into the history of fur trading posts in the Pontiac. She has compiled several documents that trace the existence of these posts in the Fort-Coulonge and Mansfield area.

Ruth Hearty hopes one day to publish the various documents she has collected in order to increase awareness of the history of the fur trade in the Pontiac.

Ms. Hearty was accompanied by Benoit Paré who published a book on the heritage buildings of Fort-Coulonge and Mansfield. He highlighted the importance of the Pontiac in the fur trade, before the arrival of the forestry industry.
